JUDGEMENT
DAY TODAY
After
over a year of court proceedings, today was
finally the day of the final judgment. The judge admitted publically
that he was told to shut us down and put Paul into prison
by the government. Many Western organizations have
had to stop their work in Mali because of the direction the
country is going in. We were acquitted of all the ridiculous
accusations from the neighbors, but justly
condemned for not having paid taxes and health insurance
etc. for our employees. We now have to pay a fine. Paul
has to come back to court next Monday to let
them know we accept the verdict and to find out by when we have
to pay. In the meantime, he still has to pay the lawyer some
money, as well as court fees.
But
there is no money. No money to pay the security
guards, no money for new tires that have reached the end of
their lives, no money to have anything fixed. He didn't even
pay out the salaries for two weeks in a row
because of it. That is a first since this ministry started.
And I don't know why. This is God's work, and
He is the one who takes care of it. He knows what He is doing.
In the natural, people have retired, people have moved on, and
we're not doing itinerant ministry like we used to do. However,
God is still God and has all the riches of this world in His
hand.
And
so all I can do is to wait and trust God and
tell Paul there is no money to send him until the day that there
is. They are all praying and learning to trust God in this situation.
We're thankful for a just verdict and for God to have done this
miracle so that we can continue doing what
He has called us to do in Mali.
If
you feel like this work is worth continuing, please think about
making a thank offering or praise offering
for the way the court proceedings have ended. Imagine if we
now could not pay the fine... God is able!
