Just in case some of you have wondered why the amount we need to finish the dining hall hasn't changed in a long time. That's because we needed to have $9,000 for our solar power system, so all (construction) donations have gone there, unless dedicated otherwise. Thank you!

DINING HALL

We still need $9,800 to finish the dining hall, where street kids are already spending the nights and where our activities are held. Please mark your donation with "construction Mali". Details on the DONATION and CONSTRUCTION pages.

THE SUSPENSE THRILLER OF PAUL'S VISA

Nearly three weeks ago Paul had his interview at the US embassy in Bamako; a lot of prayer accompanied him, and we were looking forward to finding out whether he would travel to the US with me or not. However, no decision was made. Instead he was told they'd need to do some investigation and would let him know of their decision within the week.

Today, we still don't know, and we're traveling tomorrow night. Tomorrow (Monday) early in the morning, Paul needs to go to the embassy and finally find out whether our moving forward in faith was a God-thing or a huge blunder. We're both confident that he'll get it, and have made our plans accordingly. I'm hoping that some of you will get to meet Paul in the US, as he'll be with me the first three weeks of my trip.

Please pray between now and tomorrow morning (local time). You can then check my homepage where I'll post the outcome right away.

OUR ITINERARY

As always, my detailed itineray is on the CALENDAR page on the website, and the basics are in the column to the left. At this point, I haven't set up any ministry in some places yet, so please contact me if you would like me to come.

July 7-11 ~ Albany, OR
July 11-13 ~ Harrisburg, PA
July 13-17, 20-24 ~ Wichita, KS
July 17-19, 24-26 ~ Kansas City, MO

July 26-27 ~ Paul returns to Mali

July 26-30 ~ Lompoc, CA
July 31-Aug 7 ~ Los Angeles, CA
Aug 7-11 ~ Pasadena, CA
Aug 11-19 ~ Augusta, GA
Aug 19-24 ~ Orlando & Jacksonville, FL
Aug 25-29 ~ Houston, TX
Aug 29-31 ~ Truckee, CA
Aug 31-Sep 7 ~ Kansas City, MO

On Saturday, July 25, at noon we're planning a get-together in Kansas City for all those who want to meet Paul. We're still looking for a place to do this.

WHILE WE'RE GONE

Both of us will be gone for three weeks, and our kids are home all day since it's summer break. We now have 12 children living with us, and about 20 street children who spend the night every night.

We've asked Emmanuel to come over once a day to take care of the accounting and make sure everything is alright. However, he had an accident two days ago and a broken heel and a cast, and cannot move or drive right now. He said there is a good chance they'll let him walk in a few days, and that he'll be able to drive.

Moussa - our 18-year-old day guard - will be in charge at our compound. That's a big responsability for this young man who hasn't been with us that long. Fanta is another resident adult, and we have Dami who comes at night to be our guard.

We are of the firm conviction that our compound, ministry and children are under the wings of the Most High while we are gone. We do need your prayers for them, though!

QUICK NEWS

  •        Christian School - On July 10th my kids need to do an exam at the Christian school so they see what their level is (this school has a higher level of education than most schools in Mali). Unfortunately, we were told they only have 1-2 spots per grade for our kids. Please pray all my kids get into that school.
  •        Driver - Our driver Jean is finally gone for the summer, and we're praying to find someone else before school starts again in fall. We're sending our day guard - former street kid Moussa - to driving school this summer.
  •        Hama - Unfortunately it's still totally unclear where handicapped Hama will go to school next year. Please pray for a good solution so he can progress in his development.
  •        Fousseni - Fousseni (18) has lived with his father the past half year, and his faith has severely been tested. The situation has become unbearable, and he's moving back in with us. However, his family has threatened him, and threatened to hurt me, and asked for money. Please pray for courage for him, and protection for us.
  •        US donations - The IRS is currently processing our papers, and we can already receive tax-deductible donations directly. Please do not send them to CTC anymore, but to the address in the column on the left. A big thank you to pastor Alan of CTC for having helped us out that way these past few years!

Keep and guard me as the pupil of Your eye; hide me in the shadow of Your wings. (Ps 17:8)
